20th June Is A Very Special Date In Indian Cricket: Virat Kohli-led Indian cricket team is currently locking its horns against New Zealand cricket team in the ongoing World Test Championship at Southampton. And as the skipper walked out to bat today, he completed his10 years in the longest format of the game.

Yes, it was 10 years ago, on 20th June 2011, when Virat Kohli was handed a Test debut against the West Indies. The Indian skipper was one of the three debutants in that match, the other two being Praveen Kumar and Abhinav Mukund. However, at that time, no one would have thought that this debutant will go on to become the modern legend of the game.

Over these years, Virat has grown both as a skipper and a player. He has made and shattered many records. So far, the Indian skipper has appeared in 92 Test matches and stands sixth among India’s highest run-getters in the format.

King Kohli is playing the biggest Test match of his career against New Zealand as he is chasing his first ICC trophy in the inaugural World Test Championship (WTC) Final.

However, this isn’t the only reason why the date 20th June is very special in the Indian cricket. Apart from Virat Kohli, two other iconic batters and skippers made their Test debut on 20th June.

Three of India’s iconic batters and captains made their Test debut on this date (20 June):

20 June 1996 – Dravid & Ganguly
20 June 2011 – Kohli #10YearsOfViratKohli

Yes, you read that right. On 20th June 1996, Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly made their debut against England at Lord’s in 1996 on June 20 and there would be hardly any Indian cricket fan who wouldn’t remember that Test match
