Rohit Sharma has time after time showed his funny side in press conferences. And now with him being India’s all-format skipper, we will get to see more of such hilarious press conferences from the opener.
Rohit Sharma will lead India for the first time in Test cricket at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali against Sri Lanka. On Thursday, in the pre-game press conference ahead of the first Test, Sharma was at his candid best, trolling the reporters, replying in his languid, comical manner.
Here are the top three funny moments from Rohit Sharma’s presser ahead of the Sri Lanka Test series:
Rohit Sharma replied to reporter’s 40-odd match jibe
While Virat Kohli is set to play his 100th Test, Rohit has found his groove in Test cricket only in the past two-three years. A reporter asked if he has set any target for himself having played 43 Tests so far.
Rohit Sharma smiled and said that “What target should I set for me?” adding a perfect reply that “My targets are set for the team. I am not thinking about myself. I am happy with 40 [Tests]. I don’t have regrets.
Rohit fumbles in Hindi
Rohit Sharma goes about in the press conferences in his own Mumbai Bambaiya style. Speaking further in regard of his Test career, Rohit said that he has “Ann-bann” in his Test career. However, not sure of the meaning of that, he changed his mood instantly and quickly asked someone else for the actual meaning. The reporter helped him by pointing out that is ups and downs because of injuries that Rohit meant to say.
With a slightly embarrassing grin, the skipper explained that he doesn’t have depth in his Hindi.
Sharma trolls back all reporters

Then came the best moment of Thursday’s press conference. First, instead of the media manager, Rohit himself asked a reporter to ask his question.
Then, when the reporter told Sharma that the game isn’t being played in the outfield and that he hasn’t spoken yet of the pitch and the crowd, Sharma funnily pointed out that the reporters haven’t asked him of it till now. With hand gestures, he in fact praised the journalist who asked him about the pitch and the crowd.
