Indians Who Scored A Hundred And Picked 4 Wickets In The Same ODI Match: Most cricketers grow up while mastering one facet of their game. However, there are very few who are equally good at more than a single department of their game. Such players prove to be a huge asset to whichever teams they represent. They possess a rare ability to contribute both with the bat and ball in hand.

Here, we take a look at 3 occasions when an Indian player scored a hundred and picked a 4-wicket haul in an ODI:

Sachin Tendulkar (141 and 4/38) vs Australia in 1998

In the quarter-final fixture in the ICC Knockout Trophy in 1998, India was up against Australia at Dhaka. Sachin always had a huge liking for Australia as an opponent in the ODIs during the late 1990s. To nobody’s surprise, Sachin yet again proved to be a nemesis for the Aussies with his all-round show. While batting first, the Master Blaster struck a dominating hundred and top-scored with 141. He then delivered goods with the ball, picking up four crucial wickets for his team. He was awarded the Man of the Match as India progressed to the Semi-Final on the back of his brilliant outing.

Sourav Ganguly (130* and 4/21) vs Sri Lanka in 1999

In 2nd ODI of the tri-nation Pepsi Cup in 1999, India faced Sri Lanka at Nagpur’s VCA Stadium. It proved to be a fruitful outing for the Indian opener Sourav Ganguly, who would go on to lead the Indian team during one of their brightest phase in the future. Batting first, Ganguly set the tone with his 6th ODI century for India. He remained unbeaten with a 130-run knock and propelled hosts to 287 in their 50 overs. While he did his job with the bat, the Southpaw even took the onus to contribute with the ball in hand. He took four wickets in his 4-over spell to allow India to an easy win by 80 runs. Ganguly was rightly awarded the Player of the Match

Yuvraj Singh (118 and 4/28) vs Sri Lanka in 2008

In the 2nd ODI of the 7-match ODI series between India and England in 2008, Yuvraj Sigh featured in one of his better outings in ODI cricket. The Punjab all-rounder proved his worth both as a middle-order batsman and as a slow left-arm bowler. Batting first, India were in desperate trouble before Yuvraj played the resurrection role with a hundred under trying circumstances. He scored 118 to propel India to 292 in their 50 overs. While it was a tough target for the tourists to chase, Yuvraj made life more miserable for Pietersen and company with a 4-wicket haul in his spell of 10 overs. It was indeed a match-winning performance from one of India’s greatest ODI players.
