3 Mistakes That CSK Is Making In IPL 2023

Three mistakes that CSK is making in IPL now: Chennai Super Kings has been in dream form in the ongoing edition of the tournament and the way they have been ruling the roost, there is a flicker of hope that they may very well be lifting the trophy this year if performances like these continue to build. MS Dhoni has been holding onto the reins like none other and if things go alright, well, it would be a cracker in Chennai to cap things off.

It all seems like a fairytale for the Yellow Army, right? Well, is it a fairytale? Why not? MS Dhoni at the helm of affairs, one cannot ask for better. However, here is a kicker that may not be the dream that you as a Chennai fan is blindly hoping to unfold. On very minute observation, here are three mistakes, that Chennai may be making now.

#1 Still Not Spotting A Successor For MS Dhoni

CSK

MS Dhoni is obviously a great of the game and can almost single-handedly steer the team through ups and down with his charismatic captaincy. But then at the end of it all, a lot also depends on how the team takes on the traction from there. The only time that Chennai has actually tried another captain in presence of MS Dhoni was in 2022 where Jadeja failed miserably.

Post that Dhoni has helped his team navigate the undulated waters which is usually not an easy task but then Dhoni can make anything possible. But once he calls it a day, then what? Probably you will be pointing out many names in the side. But then are they all equipped to lead a franchise that is probably synonymous with greatness over the years, if it goes to the hands of someone unworthy, well, you already know what is the backlash.

#2 Youngsters Are On the lesser Side In CSK

Barring Ruturaj Gaikwad, the other youngsters in the side, have been pretty questionable. Tushar Deshpande may have been amidst wickets but at the end of it all, he has been extremely expensive. He has been conceding at 10 runs per over and in T20 cricket, numbers like these can be devastating for the franchise.

More importantly, it is the young guns who are the lifeblood of the team and without proper young players, we have seen how franchises have toppled overnight. Unless this problem is taken care of, we may be staring at a long and cold winter.

#3 X-factors Missing Out

Ravindra Jadeja is obviously one of the biggest X-factors of the side and would probably be the beacon of salvation once Dhoni steps down. However. In case if Jadeja steps down or chooses to pursue any other franchise, that factor of bling is completely missing from the shelves.

Maybe Deepak Chahar can be another x-factor but his injury prone nature can be a shock for the Chennai Super Kings. An x-factor is crucial in defining the tournament particularly in franchise cricket. It would be intriguing to see if CSK can spot a new x-factor or else Chennai may turn into one of those mid-table clubs that you won’t expect.
