3 Players SRH Must Release Before IPL 2024

For the third seasons in a tow, the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) failed to qualify for the playoffs. Under another new skipper, another overseas one, Aiden Markram, in the Indian Premier League 2023, Hyderabad Based Franchise finished at the bottom of the points table with thw wooden spoon, having won only 4 out of 14 matches. They finished the season with 4 straight losses in a row.

There were a few impressive performers for Sunrisers Hyderabad, but many of them disappointed.

Here are 3 players SRH could release ahead of IPL 2024 auction:

SRH

Harry Brook

Harry Brook, IPL 2023

Given his high price, Harry Brook certainly didn’t perform as Sunrisers Hyderabad would have expected. Brook was signed for a whopping INR 13.25 crore by Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League 2023 auction on the back of his scintillating form in Test cricket in England’s Bazball team.

Brook hit one century – a century at the flat Eden Gardens track – apart from that, he failed miserably and because of Brook, Sunrisers Hyderabad had to shuffle up their batting order as well. Brook finished Indian Premier League 2023 with 190 runs in 11 innings at an average of 21 and strike rate of 123. Considering his high price, Sunrisers Hyderabad might look to release him and rebuy him in the auction.

Mayank Agarwal

Mayank Agarwal, IPL 2023

Mayank Agarwal was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for an expensive price tag of INR 8.25 crore. However, the senior opener failed to deliver the goods: in 10 matches, Agarwal scored 270 runs at an average of 27 and strike rate of 128 with one half-century, before being dropped from the XI. This is the second consecutive season where Agarwal has been a big disappointment with the bat. This could see him being released by Sunrisers Hyderabad, especially considering his expensive price.

Adil Rashid

With Sunrisers Hyderabad having Indian spinners in Mayank Markande, Abhishek Sharma, and Washinton Sundar, England star Adil Rashid featured in only 2 matches, wherein he picked up 2 wickets. Given Sundar, Abhishek, and Markande all are likely to be retained, Adil could be on his way back in the auction pool.
