3 Players Who Can Be The Game-Changers For RCB In WPL 2024

With the WPL almost amongst us and with less than 10 nights of sleep between the starting game and now, all eyes will again set on RCB Women. Despite forging a strong team in the last year, they finished in the bottom half. This year, they have released a few big names and bought on a handful of important players who can get the job done.

Whether this season will be the one where it all changes or not, that is to be seen. However, with WPL coming closer, here’s a quick glance at three players who can change the fortunes for RCB Women in WPL 2024.

#1 Ellyse Perry

The Aussie sensation has certainly been a rock in the RCB-W top-order finishing as the second highest run-scorer for the team in 2023. She amassed 253 runs from eight innings at a strike rate of 123.41 while also registering an average of 42.16. She went onto smash a couple of fifties too with her best in the tournament being 67*. She was equally brilliant in the WBBL blasting knocks of an 82* against Sydney Thunder, 37 against Adelaide Strikers, 40 against Perth Scorchers, and another unbeaten 44 against the Melbourne Renegades. These knocks were interspersed with crucial cameos to get her team, Sydney Sixers rolling.

#2 Sophie Devine

The Kiwi storm set WPL’s initial edition ablaze with some fiery strokeplay, literally catapulting the cherry to various nooks and cranny of the park at will. Finishing as the leading run-scorer for RCB, Devine blasted 266 runs at a staggering strike rate of 172.72 which also saw her carving that swashbuckling 99 to let the Indian cricket fans know about the slaughterhouse that she can be. At 34 years, she is not just going strong but she has been more brilliant than ever. Her latest exploit at the time of writing came against Pakistan in an ODI where Sophie clubbed 70 runs from just 36 balls, rocking the show with her fiery brand of blade-flailing.

#3 Shreyanka Patil

Patil certainly classifies as an all-rounder but she has been a lethal bowling option in the Indian emerging fold initially and from there she transcended herself to the national side, rocking the English women emphatically. With five wickets from the three matches against England, Shreyanka gave a glimpse of the kind of rampage that she brings along with herself. She also impressed in the recently concluded WCPL, finishing as the leading wicket-taker of the tournament, registering nine scalps that saw her finishing above seasoned names of the sport like Amanda-Jade Wellington, Shabnim Ismail and Hayley Matthews.
