With a T20 World Cup scheduled later this year, it would have been a perfect occasion for some of the contenders to stake a claim for a spot in the T20 World Cup for India. IPL is regarded as one of the high-profile tournaments, especially due to the quality of cricket which is on display.

1. Sanju Samson:
Sanju Samson was re-called into India’s T20I squad in the home series against Sri Lanka and didn’t get enough chances to prove a point. However, after Dhawan’s injury, Sanju was again roped into the Indian side for the five T20Is against New Zealand. He was given an opportunity but rued both the chances in the last two T20Is. A no IPL this year might make things even worse for the talented wicket-keeper batsman. There’s a probability that he might lose out on the wicket-keeper’s spot to Rishabh Pant in the T20 World Cup squad for India.
2. Khaleel Ahmed:
Khaleel Ahmed hasn’t been at his best while playing T20Is for India. He has been considerably good for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL but has failed to replicate his success for the ‘Men in Blue’. In 14 matches, Khaleel has picked mere 13 wickets. The uncertainty over his spot in the team has forced him to not deliver at his usual best. He might realize the lost opportunities even more if the IPL is canceled for this year. 3. MS Dhoni:
