3 Players Who Played In IPL 2023 But May Not Be Part Of IPL 2024

The IPL 2023 is closing on its end with the Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings reaching the final. The 16th edition of the IPL tournament was the highest-scoring IPL season of all time, with plenty of 200+ totals being racked up and a few of them even being chased down.

The IPL 2023 could prove to be the last season of a few experienced players who are unlikely to featuee in IPL 2024 next year due to various reasons.

3 players from IPL 2023 who might not be part of IPL 2024:

Ambati Rayudu

Ambati Rayudu, IPL 2023

Veteran batsman Ambati Rayudu has announced his retirement from the IPL hours before the IPL 2023 final against CSK. Rayudu also jokingly said that there will be no U-turn this time and his retirement is confirmed. Rayudu played for MI from 2010 to 2017 before joining CSK in 2018. He is a 5-time IPL winner and could pick up his 6th IPL trophy if CSK beat GT in the IPL 2023 final.

MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni is arguably the best IPL captain having CSK, the most consistent team in the IPL, to their 10th IPL final recently. A 4-time IPL winner, MS Dhoni would be targetting his 5th IPL trophy against GT.

Dhoni will turn 42 in July this year, and he’s played the entire IPL 2023 with a knee niggle. So it’s highly unlikely that he will be fit and at his best by next year’s IPL.

Recently, MS Dhoni had told Harsha Bhogle that though he’s not decided about retirement, he hinted that it could be on the cards by saying he will be associated with CSK always, be it as a player or in the dugout.

Chris Jordan

Not because of retirement but because of poor numbers in the IPL, Chris Jordan might have played his last IPL season this year. A T20 World Cup winner with England, however, Chris Jordan has failed to make positive impact in the IPL, having played for five different teams. In 34 IPL matches, Jordan has 30 wickets and has leaked runs at an economy of 9.61.

He had already gone unsold in the IPL 2023 auction but came in as a replacement for Jofra Archer. Given his poor record in the IPL, Jordan is unlikely to find a team next season.
