3 Reasons Why MS Dhoni Is The Undertaker Of Cricket

Former India and Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni is one of the biggest names in world cricket.

Even though the 42-year-old has only been appearing in the IPL since mid-2019, when he last played for India, and takes the cricket field for only a couple of months of the IPL, the craze of the ‘Thala’ has only increased in the masses.

In a weird and funny parallel, one could chalk out some similarities in traits and reputation between MS Dhoni and legendary WWE wrestler The Undertaker.

The Undertaker, whose real name is Mark Calaway, made headlines this week for his brief cameo appearance at Wrestlemania 40 this Sunday night. The Undertaker, aged 59, delivers a stunning, jaw-dropping Chokeslam to The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, in Wrestlemania 40 to stun everyone and leave everyone excited.

Some funny similarities between MS Dhoni and WWE wrestler The Undertaker:

1. Both Dhoni and Undertaker are away from action for the entire year and only appear in the showpiece event – Dhoni in the IPL and Undertaker in Wrestlemania.

2. Both have been touted to play their last event in the past few years, but feature in next year’s tournament too. (Although it’s now looking likely that the IPL 2024 is the last IPL season for MS Dhoni, who has stepped down from CSK’s captaincy post.)

3. Both Dhoni and Undertaker have great track record in their respective fields – MS Dhoni has won 5 IPL titles and Undertaker had a streak at Wrestlemania – but couldn’t go past their biggest nemesis – Dhoni couldn’t defeat Rohit Sharma in an IPL final and Undertaker lost to Brock Lesner to end his Wrestlemania streak.

A fan on Twitter posted, “Why Undertaker is Ms Dhoni ?

– Both stay at home for entire year and come out at Wrestlemania / IPL
– Both are fooling their audience by telling it’s their last year
– Both has a great record in Finals but couldn’t defeat Brock Lesnar/Rohit Sharma
– Both betrayed their brother”
