3 Youngest Indians To Hit 50 In T20Is

3 Youngest Indians To Hit 50 In T20Is – Playing international cricket for India is the dream of every young, budding cricketer in the country. And only a few could achieve it.

Some are lucky to have been given a chance to play for India at an early age given their precocious talents and prodigious abilities showcased as youngsters.

Since the arrival of 20 overs cricket, India have produced some of the finest talents in the world, and who have gone on to perform brilliantly in the international arena.

Here are India’s 3 youngest batsmen to hit fifty in T20Is:

Rohit Sharma – 20 years 143 days

Rohit Sharma

India’s current captain Rohit Sharma continues to hold the record of being the youngest Indian to notch up a half-century in 20I, even 16 years after he first made this record and despite numerous talented batters to have played for India in the meantime.

Rohit Sharma hit his maiden 20I fifty in just his second T20I, which was his maiden T20I innings. And that came in the crucial group-stage encounter against South Africa in the 2007 T20 World Cup. With the help of 7 fours and 2 sixes, Rohit scored 50* off 40 balls to take India to 153. India won the match and qualified for the semi-finals.

Tilak Varma – 20 years 271 days

Tilak Varma

Tilak Varma recently joined his India and Mumbai Indians skipper on this list and is now the second-youngest Indian half-centurion in T20Is.

In his second T20I career innings, the highly- talented Tilak Varma, batting at number 4, scored 51 runs off 41 balls on a tough pitch against West Indies in the 2nd T20I, helping India lift to 152, while no other Indian batsman could cross 30.

Varma is one of the most talented young Indian batters going around and Rohit Sharma had already predicted last year that he will soon play all three formats for India. He’s had two stunning IPL seasons already.

Rishabh Pant – 21 years 38 days

Rishabh Pant

The dynamic and aggressive Rishabh Pant made his  debut as a 20-year-old in 2017. He hit his first T20I fifty in late 2018 aged 21 years and 38 days – that was previously the record for the second-youngest Indian to hit a half-century, before Tilak Varma broke it recently, pushing Pant to the third spot.

Pant’s was a stunning maiden T20I fifty – a score of 58 runs from 38 balls, en route walloping 5 fours and 3 sixes, against West Indies in Chennai that helped India chase down a sizeable target of 183 runs with 6 wickets in hand.
