Be it any format, partnerships play an invaluable role in notching big totals in cricket. Building partnerships is crucial in any stage of the game. While the opening partnerships help the team set a foundation for a big score, lower order partnerships guide the team’s recovery from an early collapse. A 100-run partnership is as valuable in ODI format as in the Test Cricket.

Partnership from the middle-order batsmen are equally important as the batsmen have the responsibility to capitalize on the start given by the openers. In the history of Indian Cricket, we have witnessed some astonishing partnerships in all three formats of the game.

In this article, we look at the Indian pairs who have scored a 100-run partnership in all three formats:

  1. Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag:

Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag have been two of India’s most successful openers across formats. The duo have scored a plethora of runs together while opening the batting. With the right-left combination and different style of play, both complemented each other wonderfully.

Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag have scored at least one 100-run partnership in all three formats of the game. They have put together hundred-run stand once in T20s. In ODIs, they made five 100-run partnerships, while in Test Cricket they have 11 hundred-run partnerships to their name.

Overall, Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag has have batted together in 153 innings, scoring 7199 runs, including 17 centuries and 36 half-centuries.

They have notched a 100-run partnership ten times in ODIs and one apiece in Tests and T20s. Overall, they have scored 4299 runs together in 101 innings, including 12-century partnerships and 20 fifty-partnerships.

Rohit and Virat have batted together on numerous occasions and are known for notching big partnerships, especially in ODI cricket. They also hold the record for scoring at least one 100-run partnership across all formats.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma has batted together in 119 innings (across all formats) and has scored 6578 runs at an average of 58.21, including 24 century partnerships and 21 fifty-partnerships.
