As same sex marriage is getting legalized in most of the countries around the world, some of the renowned sports-persons including cricketers are coming out and making their same sex relationships with their partners pubic.

Recently, two of the Australian cricketers Delissa Kimmince and Laura Harris tied the knot amid the lockdown back home in Australia. Here are the 5 other cricketers who have had the same sex marriage in the past –

#1 Alex Blackwell

Blackwell was the first woman cricketer who came out and declared that she was a lesbian and she did it at a time when the lesbian marriages were not even legal in her country Australia.

Blackwell’s girlfriend Lysney Askew is from England and since it was allowed in England for a person to marry another person of same sex, Blackwell got married with her partner in 2015.

Only a couple of years after Blackwell’s marriage, the lesbian marriages got the legality in Australia as well.

#2 Amy Satterthwaite and Lea Tahuhu:

Tahuhu and Satterhwaite have been in a relationship for a long time and both of them have been the vital members of the New Zealand women’s cricket team. Satterthwaite even captained New Zealand until very recently before she was replaced by Sophie Devine.

Satterthwaite and Tahuhu couldn’t take part in the women’s T20 World Cup earlier this year in Australia because they were having a baby.

#3 Dane van Niekerk and Marizanne Kapp

Dane van Niekerk is the captain of the South Africa women’s cricket team and Kapp is a fast bowling all-rounder. Despite being in love and being married, the duo is very professional while they are out on the ground representing their country.

There has never been an instance where Van Niekerk has been accused of unfairly selecting her partner in the XI. Kapp has always justified her place in the team by putting on consistent performances with both bat and ball.

#4 Megan Schutt and Jess Holyoke

Jess Jonassen and Sarah Wearn were supposed to get married in March, but they had to cancel their plans as the lockdown restrictions were imposed in Australia because of the surge in the coronavirus cases.

Jonassen, who is a spin bowling all-rounder, is currently living in the same house with Wearn and is likely to tie the knot in a few months.
