Cricket has gone through a major transformation, ever since the introduction of the t20I format of the game. From Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, AB de Villiers, Rashid Khan, there have been many modern cricketing greats who have taken this game to new heights.
However, there have been a few great cricketers who have dominated the Test as well as the ODI formats but haven’t featured in more than one T20I matches. Here, we bring you a list of 5 cricketers who only played one T20i match. Have a look
1. Rahul Dravid:
One of the legendary players of this game, Rahul Dravid, who is fondly called ‘The Wall’ of the Indian cricket team has scored more than 10,000 runs in ODIs and Tests. However, Rahul Dravid has only a T20 game in his International T20 cricket career. Rahul Dravid played 31 innings in the only T20 game played against England with the help of 3 successive sixes.
2. Sachin Tendulkar:
Sachin Tendulkar, who is regarded as the greatest cricketers to have ever played the game of cricket. He is fondly called as the ‘God of Cricket’, has scored the most number of runs in international ODI and Test cricket and has made many world records. However, the GOAT has only played one international T20 in his career. It was in the year 2006, at the Johannesburg ground, when Sachin Tendulkar scored 10 runs against South Africa, smashing 2 fours on 12 balls.
3. Inzamam-ul-Haq:
Former skipper of Pakistan Inzamam-ul-Haq, who was also a part of the 1992 World Cup-winning team is another player who makes it to this list. Haq is regarded as one of the finest cricketers to have played for Pakistan, holding the record for scoring the most runs in ODIs. Besides this, he was also a vital player in the longest format of the game.
Haq, who first captained his side in the year 2006, for first-ever T20 international against England in Bristol. He played an unbeaten inning of 11 in that game and helped his team successfully chase down a target of 145 set by England.
Inzamam-ul-Haq didn’t play any other game before finally retiring from international cricket in the year 2007.
4. Jason Gillispie:
Jason Gillispie, the former Australian fast bowler also plaid a solitary T20 international in his career. He played his only T20I match against England in 2005 at the Rose Bowl, where he had a fast bowler didn’t have a good inning.
Jason could only concede 49 runs in his four overs, where he picked up the lone wicket of Andrew Strauss. However, he also emerged out as the top-scorer from his side during the same game. He scored 24 with the bat, as his team was chasing 180 runs for victory.
Though he had an illustrious career in the longest format of the game but he didn’t feature in T20I after that match.
5. Mohammad Rafique:
Mohammad Rafique, Bangladesh’s sensational bowler also featured in a solitary T20 international in his career. Rafique became the first Bangladesh bowler to take 100 Test wickets. He also emerged out as the key player for the team in the 2000s when their team was struggling.
He played only one T20I match in his international career, that came in 2006, where he scored 13 runs of 5 balls and also picked a wicket in his quota of four allotted overs. After that match, he failed to find a spot for himself in the International T20 squad.
