India has got the most number of grounds in the world and for the last few years, there has been a consistent effort from the BCCI to allot international games to the grounds which are situated in small towns to give the small town cricketing audience an opportunity to watch their stars live in action.
However, there are still quite a few grounds which have not hosted an international cricket match for a long, long time despite them fulfilling all the eligibility criteria that ground needs to fulfill to get the hosting rights of international matches.
Here are the 5 grounds which are now being ignored by the BCCI –
#1 Captain Roop Singh Stadium, Gwalior:

This is the ground where Sachin Tendulkar had scored the first-ever double hundred in the history of ODI cricket against South Africa. However despite that being a historical and memorable game, this ground never got the opportunity to host another international game again.
There have been a total of 12 One Day Internationals played at this venue so far which also include India vs Kenya game of 1998 where Kenya had shockingly beaten India.
#2 Moin-ul-Haq Stadium, Patna:

It’s the only stadium in Bihar which has hosted international cricket and it had fantastic facilities to start with, but because of the poor run of affairs in the Bihar Cricket Association, this stadium lost its charm gradually and is now not even considered as a potential venue for an international match.
This season the Bihar Ranji team played a few games at this stadium, but the stadium clearly seems to have suffered due to lack of maintenance.
#3 Keenan Stadium, Jamshedpur

This stadium used to get Jharkhand’s share of international matches in the previous decade, but since the time the Jharkhand Cricket Association built a new stadium in Ranchi, it took the entire spotlight and the Keenan Stadium hasn’t remained the centre of attraction anymore. The Keenan Stadium hasn’t hosted an international match in the last 12 years.
#4 Nahar Singh Stadium, Faridabad:

This is another ground which has lost the spotlight because of the lack of infrastructure. It is one of the very few grounds which the Haryana Cricket Association owns and it hosted an ODI between India and England in 2006. But with new stadiums with world-class facilities being built all around the country, the BCCI has now turned its back to the Nahar Singh Stadium.
#5 Nehru Stadium, Pune:

This is one of the oldest grounds in India and the most famous game played at this ground was between Kenya and West Indies in the cricket world cup 1996 where Kenya had managed to pull off the biggest upset of the tournament by beating West Indies.
India boasts of a great record at this venue as they have won 5 out of the 8 One Day Internationals they have played here. The last time the men in blue turned up at the Nehru stadium was in 2006 against Sri Lanka.
