MS Dhoni is undoubtedly one of the best Captain of the Indian Cricket team. After his debut in December 2004 against Bangladesh, he never looked back. Under his captaincy, India won all the major ICC championships.
But there are some players, who started to play after him, but due to certain reasons, retired already. Here are 5 Indian players who started playing after dhoni, but retired already.
Ambati Rayudu
Ambati Rayudu was a right-hand middle-order batsman, who debuted in July of 2013, against Zimbabwe. He played 55 ODIs and had a stunning average of 47.05. he has 3 tons in his ODI career. He played in IPL for MI and later for CSK.
He was a great middle-order batsman, who could’ve easily solved the problem for the No. 4 spot in the 2019 world cup squad. But when the selectors considered Vijay Shankar instead of him, he decided to retire from all formats of cricket in 2019.
RP Singh
Rudra Pratap Singh was a left-arm fast bowler who started his career in the national team in September of 2005 against Zimbabwe. He had a shining career in which he played 14 tests, 58 ODIs in which, his economy was 5.48. he has 69 ODI wickets and 40 test wickets.
Despite his great performance, he suffered from many injuries. He also played IPL, where he took 90 wickets. But for quite some reasons, he retired from all formats of cricket in 2018’s September.
Pragyan Ojha
Pragyan Ojha was a slow left-arm orthodox bowler who debuted in March of 2005 for the national team. He was one of the most successful test bowlers. In his 24 test matches, he took 113 wickets with an economy of 2.69. He also played 18 ODIs & 6 T20 Internationals. He last played in 2013, in the retirement test of Sachin Tendulkar, against West Indies.
He also became the Man of the Match. Due to the rise of Ravindra Jadeja as an all-rounder, his career came to an end shortly. He finally retired in February, this year.
Munaf Patel
Munaf Patel was a right-arm fast bowler, who debuted against England, in March of 2006. He played 13 tests and 70 ODIs for the Indian team. He was also a member of the 2011′ world cup winning team, where he played a crucial role.
He was famous for his pace in his bowls. He could bowl at a speed of 140 kmph. Despite his great performance in the world cup, due to the rise of many young players, he didn’t get any further chance. He finally retired in 2018.
Praveen Kumar
Praveen Kumar was a right-arm medium-pace bowler who started playing for India against Pakistan, in 2007. He was a great bowler who could swing the bowl both sides with great accuracy. In his career, he played 6 tests and 68 ODIs. He has 27 Test wickets and 77 ODI wickets.
He played a significant role in the 2008 tri-series in Australia, which was also team’s first series win in Australia also. Despite his performance, he didn’t get to play more, because of youngsters who were better than him. He retired in October of 2018 via an announcement on twitter.
