5 Most Expensive Spells By Indian Bowlers In ODIs

There is no doubt about the fact that white-ball cricket is tilted in the favor of the batsmen, but the bowlers still have a fair bit of chance to make an impact with their variations and skills.
However, at times, the conditions are way too difficult for the bowlers to be able to find a way to contain the batsmen, and that often results in expensive spells.
Here are the 5 most expensive spells by the Indian bowlers in ODIs:
#1 Bhuvneshwar Kumar:

Bhuvneshwar Kumar is one of the only two bowlers who have given away more than 100 runs in a single ODI game for India. The right arm swing bowler, who is currently the spearhead of the Indian attack, registered this unwanted record to his name in the final ODI of the ODI series against South Africa in 2015 as he gave away 106 runs in his quota of 10 overs. India lost that series by 3-2.
#2 Vinay Kumar:

Vinay Kumar is another bowler who holds the record of conceding more than 100 runs in a One Day International game for India. In the final match of the ODI series against Australia in 2013, Vinay was taken for 102 runs.
Vinay didn’t even bowl his full quota, but still ended up giving away so many runs. However, despite Vinay’s disastrous performance, India won that match and won the series as well.

Bhuvneshwar makes an appearance in this list again which is a little surprising, given the way he has performed for India in both 50-over and 20-over cricket in the recent times. He has not only bowled fantastically well with the new ball, he has been accurate in the death as well most of the time.
However, it was certainly not the case in the Kanpur ODI against New Zealand in 2017 where Bhuvneshwar gave away 92 runs in his 10 overs. India still managed to emerge victorious in that very close game.
#4 Zaheer Khan:

This was a very high scoring game between India and Sri Lanka in Rajkot in 2009 where both the teams scored more than 400 runs, which has very rarely happened in the history of ODI cricket.
Zaheer, initially, was very expensive in that game which was why his overall figures didn’t look good, but he actually bowled some very good yorkers in the latter parts of that game which helped India win. Zaheer’s overall figures read none for 88.
#5 Yuzvendra Chahal:

This was the World Cup match between India and England in Birmingham last year where Chahal gave away 88 runs in his 10 overs. Although all the Indian bowlers were expensive in that game except Bumrah, Chahal was the most expensive.
England posted a huge score of 337 batting first and India fell 31 runs short of the target. It was the only loss India suffered in the preliminary round of ODI World Cup 2019.
