Cricket is mostly regarded as the game of batsmen, however, the bowlers have always saved the game for the team by saving runs with their impeccable bowling. There have been many great bowlers in the history of this game, who made the game even more interesting with their skills and gave nightmares to the batsmen.

From Lasith Malinga, Jasprit Bumrah to many others, there have been many names in the cricket world who are famous not just for their bowling skills but for their bowling actions as well.

Here, in this article, we bring you 5 bowlers who are famous for their bowling style. Have a look:

1. Paul Adams:

The former South African bowler Paul Adams has been an effective bowler in the history of South Africa’s cricket, having picked 163 wickets in 69 games for the Proteas. However, more than his numbers, it was his bowling actions that used to steal the show.

While delivering the ball, Paul Adams used to jump and then twist his entire body. It was remarkable how Paul Adams used to manage to hit his lengths consistently. His head used to go all over the place but despite the fact, he was best in what he used to do. With the same action,  he picked 505 wickets across all the formats of the game.

2. Lasith Malinga:

The legendary bowler of Sri Lanka has given nightmares to batters around the globe for more than a decade. During the 2007 World Cup, Lasith Malinga almost took his side to victory with his impeccable bowling skills. In the 2019 World Cup as well, he repeated the same feat in a match against New Zealand.

Just like Malinga’s bowling skills, his bowling action is also hit among his fans. While delivering the ball,  his hands used to stay in front of the umpires.  His point of release used to be the most special thing about his bowling. His slingshot-like action, Malinga turned out to be an apt exponent of the yorkers. In his glorious career, Malinga took to 1093 wickets across all the formats of the game.

3. Jasprit Bumrah:

Jasprit Bumrah is currently the best bowler in team India. He has done great work for team India across formats, especially after making his debut in 2016. Over the years, he has wonderfully created his space in the Indian cricket team and is known for giving nightmares to the batters all around the world.

Just like Malinga, Jasprit Bumrah’s yorkers and slower deliveries have also did wonders for the team in death overs. While delivering the ball, Jasprit’s right-arm remains straight as a ramrod. Also, his hands come down from sideways which makes it difficult for batters.

4. Sohail Tanvir:

Sohail Tanvir, who made his Pakistan debut in the 2007 T20 World Cup, isn’t a regular name in international cricket now, but he has done wonders in the domestic circuit.

The 35-year-old is known for his bowling action as he bowls with his wrong foot that even gained him the nickname of ‘Pankhaa’ in the Pakistan cricket fraternity. While delivering the ball, he rolls his arms over twice.  He has picked 130 wickets in 121 for the national team.

5. Mmoloki Mooketsi:

Mooketsi has taken the level of innovation to a whole new level when it comes to delivering the ball. It was in the year 2018, when the International Cricket Council (ICC)  shared a video of him, where he could be seen bowling during the ICC World Twenty20 Africa Region Qualifier C. In the video, he can be seen taking three short steps in his run-ups. The pauses in his action can break the focus of any batsman around the world.
