Cricket is predominantly a game for the batsmen, especially when it comes to the shortest format of the game, the T20. There are a number of instances where the bowlers have been taken to the sword at will by the batsmen, hitting the ball for boundaries and over boundaries. In the following lines, we are going to look at five such instances when the bowler conceded more than four sixes in an over in a T20I match.
Stuart Broad (6 sixes by Yuvraj Singh)
Whenever we think about the most number of sixes being hit by a batsman in an over, the first name that comes to our mind is that of Yuvraj Singh. The southpaw took on England’s Stuart Broad and hit him for six sixes in an over during the India vs England clash in the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007 and led his side to a comfortable victory in the crucial clash.
Stuart Binny (5 sixes by Evin Lewis)
The West Indian batsman smashed the Indian all-rounder Stuart Binny around the park, hitting him form 5 sixes. This was during the T20I match played between the two teams in 2016, as Lewis scored 32 runs in that single over off Binny, which included one wide ball.
Mohd Saifuddin (5 sixes by David Miller)
The young pacer from Bangladesh was taken to the sword by the South African southpaw David Miller, who hit him for 5 sixes in the T20I clash between the two teams at Potchefstroom in 2017. Miller hit Saifuddin for five consecutive sixes while taking a single off the last ball of the over, thus scoring 31 runs.
Daryl Tuffey (4 sixes by Ricky Ponting)
The former Aussie skipper is one of the most devastating batsmen the game has ever produced and former New Zealand pacer Daryl Tuffey had the taste of his batting during the T20I clash between the two sides in 2005. Ponting scored 30 runs off the over, hitting four over boundaries in the process.
Rashid Khan (4 sixes by AB De Villiers)
The former South African captain has been a nightmare for any bowler with his out of the box cricketing shots. He scored 29 runs off a single over bowled by the ace Afghan spinner Rashid Khan in the T20I match played in 2016, hitting him for 4 sixes while scoring a boundary and a single off the other two deliveries of the over.
