Cricket is more than just a game, it’s an emotion, a religion and not just for the players but for the people all around the world. Overall these years, we have seen many heart-touching moments on field involving cricketers and their fans. However, there have been incidents when the fans crossed their limits and made news for all the wrong reasons.

Here, in this article, we bring you a list of 5 incidents where fans crossed the lines. Have a look:

1. 1996 World Cup Semi-final In Kolkata:

During the semi-final match at the iconic Eden Gardens of Kolkata, the Indian batsmen bundled in front of the Sri Lankan bowlers. Though Indian maestro Sachin Tendulkar with the help of Sanjay Manjrekar put on 90 for the second wicket, however, soon Sri Lanka’s Sanath Jayasuriya removed Sachin Tendulkar on 65 runs and soon the Indian batting line-up collapsed in front of Sri Lanka.

Soon after India’s defeat in the match, the disappointed crowd at the Eden Gardens expressed their anger and grief by throwing bottles, canes and whatever they laid their hands on.

2. When Bangladeshi fans hacked Virat Kohli’s account after Asia Cup 2018:

Bangladesh’s cricket team lost the Asia Cup 2018 to the Men In Blue by three wickets. However, after Team India won the tournament, the Bangladeshi fans went all out in protest. They even hacked the account of the current skipper of the Indian cricket team, who wasn’t even the part of the playing squad during the tournament.

In return, the Bangladeshi fans asked ICC to make an apology and also went on to threaten to hack more accounts.

3. Shoe was thrown on Faf du Plessis and Ravindra Jadeja in IPL 2018:

During the CSK vs KKR match in IPL 2018, a very shameful incident took place where a few miscreants threw shoes at Ravindra Jadeja and Faf du Plessis. The unidentified people were later detained by the cops.

Later after CSK won that match, Ravindra Jadeja reacted on the matter and said that despite this one unruly behavior, CSK received loads of support from the fans.

4. Fan abused David Warner during Ashes 2019:

2019 was a terrible year for David Warner as he made a comeback after the ball-tampering incident that shook the whole cricket fraternity. He along with Steve Smith were even booed by the crowd present at the ground.

During the fourth Test match in Manchester, when David Warner was walking down the stairs a fan had abused him and called him a ‘f**king cheat’. Reacting to which David Warner turned back and gave him a thumbs-up, shutting down the troll in a perfect way.

5. Mustafizur Cutter Incident in 2018:

Well, back in 2015, the Bangladeshi tigers created a controversy after they Bangladeshi cricket team made it to their maiden World Cup quarter-finals.

It was Mustafizur’s off-cutters that became the key-highlight of the tournament as they were difficult to read. Later after Bangladeshi Tigers won the series,  a picture did the rounds where the half-shaven heads of Indian cricketers were given. In the picture, Mustafizur Rehman was seen with a shaving blade in his hand and the pic read:  ‘We are using it, you should too’.
