The world cup has not begun but the injuries have already made their presence felt. Here is a list of injured cricketers who will participate in the mega event:

1) MISBAH UL HAQ (Pakistan)

The 41 year Pakistani captain is said to be carrying a grade two hamstring injury, which means it could re-occur anytime. But the Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Shahryar Khan made it clear as early as December that Misbah would definitely lead the team into the World Cup.

2) RAVINDRA JADEJA (India)

Probably the most talked about selection, Jadeja narrowly made the cut thanks to the team physio Nitin Patel’s assurance to the selectors about him getting fit on time. Jadeja was selected ahead of India’s man of the last World Cup Yuvraj Singh.

3) QUINTON DE KOCK (South Africa)

The 22 year old talented South African wicketkeeper batsman is believed to have suffered an ankle ligament tear and will miss the first two games. AB de Villiers is expected to fill in for the injured de Kock for the time he will be out of action.

4) LASITH MALINGA (Sri Lanka)

The Sri Lankan speedster underwent surgery on his left ankle in September last year. He is included in the squad subject to proving his fitness. If fit he will be the man to watch out for in the mega event.

5) MICHAEL CLARKE (Australia)

Expected to be named skipper for the Australian World Cup squad, the Australian captain has been troubled by his hamstring for quite some time. He is racing against time to get fit for Australia’s world cup opener.

We are hoping these players get fit before the start of the tournament, as all of them will play a very crucial role for their respective countries. While four out of these five players have been named in their respective squads, Michael Clarke is almost certain to be picked and he will lead Australia in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.
