7 Players Who Are Playing Their Last IPL

IPL has seen some stellar careers come and go over the years with legends of the game gracing the event for one last time. It is a beautiful league wherein youngsters are able to learn and develop from under the best in the game.

Players such as Sachin, Glenn Mcgrath, Brett Lee, Shaun Pollock etc. have all played in the IPL and retired from cricket post the tournament. However, this year too, could see some players retiring. Here is a list of potential players we could see for the last time in IPL:

Zaheer Khan

The Indian pacer has served India brilliantly for more than a decade and is now in the twilight of his career. Already playing only a bit-part role despite being the captain of the Delhi Daredevils squad, Zak could probably retire at the end of this IPL considering the age factor.

Zaheer represented the Mumbai Indians and the Royal Challengers Bangalore during his time in the IPL and his absence will be felt by the Delhi youngsters.

Ashish Nehra

Nehraji – as he is popularly called enjoyed a renaissance of sorts at the age of 36-37. However, now 38, he can still bowl a decent spell to restrict the opposition and his experience is invaluable during the tense final overs as many youngsters have vouched.  Nehra could have however be playing in his last IPL tournament as age is not on his side and he could decide to call it a day himself.

Shane Watson

Watson is a legend of Australian cricket and has really turned out to be one of the faces of IPL throughout the years. His stint with the Rajasthan Royals was memorable and he is generally considered one of the safest all-rounders in the world.

He has however been wanting for form off late and this could be the first sign that Watto is looking to probably call it a day on what has been a superb cricketing career.

Praveen Tambe

The veteran who won hearts across India for finally proving his worth post the age of 35 is a bonafide IPL success story. Now 41, Tambe is contracted to the Sunrisers Hyderabad but has found chances hard to come by. Tambe was a major success during his time with the Rajasthan Royals but post their ban, he played for the Gujarat Lions before turning out for the Hyderabad outfit this year.

Brendon McCullum

The swashbuckling Kiwi batsman is still one of the hardest hitters of the cricket ball but the ongoing season of IPL can be his last season as a player. Soon, Baz will take up cricket commentary and we might see him as a commentator next season.

Mitchell Johsnon

Former Australian fast bowler is playing for Mumbai Indian in IPL 2017. So far, Johnson hasn’t got too many opportunities and this season will likely be his last IPL season as a cricketer.

Darren Sammy 

Former West Indies captain is a part of Kings XI Punjab franchise in IPL 2017, but he hasn’t played a single game so far. The ongoing season of IPL can might well be the last season for Sammy as a cricketer.
