90% Rain Threat For India vs Pakistan Match; Weather Report Of Pallekele, Kandy

The spirit of the cricket fans may be dampened and spoiled by rain gods as the India vs Pakistan encounter on Saturday, September 2, in Pallekele, Kandy, is under a massive rain threat.

Weather reports in Sri Lanka suggest that the IND vs PAK clash stands a chance of getting washed out if the rain doesn’t relent. Pallekele is a city in the Kandy District, Central Province, Sri Lanka, which is forecasted to receive a considerable amount of rain on Saturday, the day of the marquee clash of India and Pakistan in the Group A match of the Asia Cup 2023.

This will be a big dent to both sets of fans and also for the broadcasters, who have paid heavy prices for the Asia Cup 2023 in the hope of getting three, and at least two, India vs Pakistan matches. Such is the format of the Asia Cup that there is a chance of potentially three India-Pakistan games, including in the final. The first of this, however, could suffer a wash out.

91% percent chance of rain predicted for the day of India vs Pakistan match in Kandy

A report has stated that it’s already been raining heavily for the past two days in Pallekle, and if the various weather apps are to be believed, the weather doesn’t look promising at all for Saturday either, and the chances of even a 20-over affair – which is the shortest an ODI game can be played – look grim.

According to a report in Hindustan Times, “the lowest predicted rain percentage by weather for Saturday is 91%, which makes it nearly impossible for the match to take place unless a miracle happens.”

If the match doesn’t end in a result – that is when both teams can’t play even 20 overs in each innings – then 1 point will be given to both sides and Pakistan will move through to Super 4. In that case, the India vs Nepal encounter will become a must-win clash for both teams, and the winning side will progress to the Super 4 round. Nepal lost the first match to Pakistan in Multan.
