Virat Kohli was only 18 when his father Prem left him. He was 54 when he died. It was in the wee hours on December 19, 2006, that Kohli’s father succumbed to a heart attack. Much to everyone’s surprise, Kohli returned to the field, despite losing his father, and went on to score 90 to save Delhi from a follow-on.
Lokapally sir shared this emotional story as an example of how Virat learned to handle responsibility from an early age. While a century is considered as a milestone in this game of cricket, however, this gritty knock by Kohli on a difficult track to help Delhi, when he himself was dealing so much pain, is nothing less than an inspiration.
