Indian batting superstar Virat Kohli played yet another powerful knock of 95 runs as he helped the Indian cricket team beat New Zealand by four wickets in the ODI World Cup 2023 clash at Dharamsala on Sunday. All thanks to the brilliant knock by Kohli, the Indian cricket team was able to end New Zealand’s jinx by picking up their first-ever over the Kiwis in ICC events since 2003, thus ending a 20-year-old jinx.
Even though it was a heartbreak for Virat Kohli and his fans, as he came agonizingly close to going level with Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 49 centuries in ODI cricket, however, he missed the well-deserved century by just 5 runs when he was dismissed by Matt Henry.
Kohli walked into bat when India lost its first wicket in the form of Rohit in the 12th over and took the game by storm. Virat couldn’t complete the chase for India but riding on his mature knock helped India to reach a victory target of 274 runs with two overs to spare to maintain their unbeaten run in the ongoing marquee tournament.
Kohli showcased why he is hailed as the chase-master as he slammed magnificent 95 runs off 104 balls, with 8 fours and 2 sixes.
