Team India stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli hugged each other passionately after the Indian cricket team registered a hard-fought 4-wicket win against the Kiwis on Sunday (October 22) at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. It was India’s first win against New Zealand in an ICC event in 20 years.

As the game started, Rohit Sharma won the toss and invited the Kiwis to bat first. The New Zealand cricket team managed to reach a total of 273 in 50 overs, riding on the knocks of Daryl Mitchell (130) and Rachin Ravindra (75).

For India, Mohammed Shami was the pick of the bowlers. He scalped five wickets and gave a hard time to the Kiwis. He didn’t let the batters set themselves on the pitch.

The Indian cricket team then chased down the target in 48 overs with a collective effort from the batting line-up. Virat Kohli played yet another powerful knock of 95 runs as he helped the Indian cricket team beat New Zealand by four wickets in the ODI World Cup 2023 clash at Dharamsala on Sunday.

Even though it was a heartbreak for Virat Kohli and his fans, as he came agonizingly close to going level with Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 49 centuries in ODI cricket, however, he missed the well-deserved century by just 5 runs when he was dismissed by Matt Henry.

Kohli walked into bat when India lost its first wicket in the form of Rohit in the 12th over and took the game by storm. Kohli showcased why he is hailed as the chase-master as he slammed magnificent 95 runs off 104 balls, with 8 fours and 2 sixes. However, Kohli couldn’t complete the chase, and Ravindra Jadeja finished the game for India.
