The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni has lifted the lid on the suspense of his knee injury and whether he will be able to participate in the IPL 2024 next year.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni had undergone a knee surgery in June, soon after captaincy CSK to their 5th IPL as CSK defeated Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2023 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Dhoni has been rehabbing after his knee surgery, and finally he had given a massive update on this.
The CSK skipper attended an event in Bangalore on Thursday, October 26, where he cheekily corrected the anchor and got laughter in the crowd. When the anchor said that Dhoni had retired from cricket, the 42-year-old promptly corrected him that he’s retired only from international cricket.
Then the other host asked how his knee was feeling. That is when Mahendra Singh Dhoni gave an answer about his knee, saying that the doctors had advised him that he would be fit by November later this year.
“Knee has survived the operation, going through the rehab patch, the doctor told me you would feel much better by November. But no problem in day-to-day routine,” said Dhoni. This response from ‘Thala’ got a huge applause from the crowd who are eager to see him play in the IPL next year

Earlier, after leading CSK to the IPL 2023 trophy, Thalla had confirmed that he would want to play another season after being showered with love and affection everywhere he played this year.

“Circumstantially, it’s the best time to announce retirement. The easy thing for me is to say is thank you and retire. But the amount of love I have received from CSK fans, it would be a gift for them to (see me) play one more season,” Dhoni had said in May.
Aged 42, CSK’s Skipper was the oldest player to play in the IPL 2023.
The IPL 2024 auction will reportedly happen in December this year and the franchises have to announce their released and retained players list by November 15.
