After toiling hard for four days, the Indian cricket team defeated Bangladesh with a 199-run win in the first Test match of the ongoing 2-match series. With this win the Indian side made big progress in the World Test Championship points. With this win, the Indian side has taken a lead of 1-0 in the ongoing 2-match Test series.
While the game kickstarted on a balanced note, with both the teams giving tough competition, however, as the game progressed the momentum shifted towards India. Courtesy of a half-century from Cheteshwar Pujara and Shreyas Iyer in the first innings, the Indian side posted a huge total of 404 runs on the board. Later, riding on Kuldeep Yadav‘s five-for, the Indian side bowled out the hosts for just 150 in their first innings. Team India came out to bat again and put on some stellar batting performances thus setting up a target of 513 for Bangladesh. The Bangladeshi Tigers did bat for more than a day but failed to chase the target.

Bangladesh: 150 and 324 all out in 113.2 overs (Zakir Hasan 100, Shakib Al Hasan 84; Axar Patel 4/77, Kuldeep Yadav 3/73).
Meanwhile, with this win, India has moved to the 2nd spot in the World Test Championship points table.

With a win percentage of 76.92, Australia continues to rule the number 1 spot in the WTC points table, following their win over the Proteas. So far, the Pat Cummins side has played 13 games, winning nine of them.
India is behind Australia at the second spot with a win percentage of 55.77.
South Africa dropped down to the third spot, following their defeat against Australia. They now have a win percentage of 54.55.
Sri Lanka has also lost one spot after India’s win and is now currently fourth. They now have a win percentage of 53.33.
England and Pakistan, who are currently taking on each other in the third and final Test at the National Stadium in Karachi, are fifth and sixth with win percentages of 44.44 and 42.42, respectively.
West Indies, New Zealand, and Bangladesh are sitting at the bottom three positions with win percentages of 40.91, 25.93, and 12.12, respectively.
