Naveen-ul-Haq Takes A sly Dig At Australia Ahead Of Their World Cup 2023 Game

Cricket Australia made headlines with its decision to withdraw from the ODI series scheduled against Afghanistan in March. This abrupt move, citing Taliban-related issues, not only raised eyebrows but also stirred up controversy in the cricketing world.

Australia’s announcement of its withdrawal from the ODI series against Afghanistan left Afghanistan fans and players bewildered. This series was a part of the ICC ODI Super League, and it offered crucial points for both teams to solidify their positions. However, due to Cricket Australia’s choice to forfeit, all 30 points meant for the series went straight to Afghanistan. However, Australia did not suffer any loss due to that.

Before this ODI series fiasco, Australia and Afghanistan were scheduled to face off in a Test match in November 2021. However, the match was abruptly canceled after the Taliban seized power in Afghanistan in August of that year.

Naveen-ul-Haq, the Afghan cricketer, took a sly dig at Australia just ahead of their clash in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 group stages. His words indirectly encouraged Australia to forfeit the game, thereby awarding Afghanistan the much-needed two points. This taunt was a veiled reference to Australia’s decision to forfeit the previous two series.
