Will Sanju Samson Play For Ireland Now?

Despite some solid performances over the past few months, Sanju Samson has been struggling to fix a spot for himself in the Indian squad. Sanju Samson made his debut for the Indian cricket team in 2015, however, so far he has only featured in only 27 games across formats. Most of those games came in 2022. The Indian team management often finds itself at the receiving end of criticism and trolling from fans for constantly ignoring Sanju Samson and not giving him a proper run.

Meanwhile, after being snubbed again and again by the Indian team, Sanju Samson has received an offer from Cricket Ireland to represent the side in international cricket. Yes, according to the latest development, the Ireland Cricket Board reportedly made Samson an offer to join its team recently.

Cricket Australia offered a golden chance to Sanju Samson

As per a Malayalam Manorama report, Cricket Ireland stepped in to offer Sanju Samson an opportunity at international cricket. It has to be noted that Sanju was ignored for the Asia Cup, the T20 World Cup, and the tour of Bangladesh. Despite some solid performances, Samson continues to be overlooked by the national team selectors.

The reports revealed that if Samson agrees to shift allegiances, he would get a chance to feature in all the games for Cricket Ireland. The Irish side is hunting for a captain cum batter and Samson looks like a great deal to them. Earlier this year, the 28-year-old led the Rajasthan Royals franchise to its first IPL final since 2008.

Well, if Samson decides to take up this offer, he would have to retire from the IPL and from all the forms of Indian cricket. Notably, former Under-19 World Cup captain Unmukt Chand, who is now playing his trade in the US, took a similar route.
