The anticipation is building as cricket fans around the globe gear up for the grand finale of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The clash between India and Australia promises to be a spectacle of skill, strategy, and determination. In the semi-finals, India emerged victorious against New Zealand in Mumbai, while Australia triumphed over South Africa in Kolkata. Now, we eagerly await the showdown at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Team India, under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, has displayed an unparalleled level of performance throughout the World Cup. Sharma’s proactive leadership and fearless approach at the top of the order have set the tone for India’s success. Notably, he has prioritised the team’s score over personal milestones, showcasing a selfless attitude that resonates with the squad’s collective spirit.

India’s bowling unit, spearheaded by the prolific Mohammed Shami, has been nothing short of sensational. Shami’s ability to consistently pick up wickets has made him the leading wicket-taker. The bowlers, as a cohesive unit, have demonstrated precision and tenacity, contributing significantly to India’s unbeaten streak in the tournament.

Virat Kohli, a stalwart of Indian cricket, has achieved a remarkable feat by surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s record for 50 ODI hundreds. Additionally, Kohli stands as the leading run scorer in the tournament, amassing close to 800 runs. His consistent and impactful performances have been instrumental in India’s journey to the final.

India has sailed through the World Cup, securing victories in all 10 matches with convincing authority. The team’s flawless record has instilled confidence, but the final against the five-time world champions poses a different challenge.

Former cricketer Yuvraj Singh, offering his insights, remarked, “Given how India’s graph has been in the World Cup, I don’t think they will perform badly. The only way India can lose this World Cup is through their mistakes. I feel they are high on confidence at the moment.”

Australia, a cricketing powerhouse with a history of World Cup triumphs, faces the daunting task of overcoming India’s dominance. Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc exhibited composure in the semi-final against South Africa, showcasing the team’s ability to handle pressure situations.

Reflecting on Australia’s dominance in the 2003 World Cup, Yuvraj Singh emphasized the need for Australia to bring their A-game in the final. He noted, “Australia dominated the 2003 World Cup, and although we played well and reached the final, Australia dominated us. This time, I feel India have dominated the tournament.”

Yuvraj Singh acknowledged Australia’s class in big matches, citing their history of winning crucial encounters. He highlighted the importance of Australia playing their best cricket in the final to stand a chance against the formidable Indian side.

He said: “Given how India’s graph has been in the World Cup, I don’t think they will perform badly. The only way India can lose this World Cup is through their mistakes. I feel they are high on confidence at the moment.

Australia dominated the 2003 World Cup and although we played well and reached the final, Australia dominated us. This time, I feel India have dominated the tournament. Australia will need to play their best cricket in the final, or else they have no chance against India.

Australia know how to handle pressure. They have won the World Cup so many times. Even in the semifinal against South Africa, Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc showed great composure as batters even when their specialist batters were all out. They win big matches because they have that big match temperament.”
