BCCI Summons Rohit, Dravid & Kohli After India’s ‘Embarrassing’ Loss Against Bangladesh

The Indian cricket team touched a new low in 2022 as they suffered two back-to-back defeats to Bangladesh resulting in an ODI series loss. Following the embarrassing defeat against Bangladesh, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will hold a review meeting.

Yes, you read that right. As per a report by The Indian Express, BCCI’s office-bearers will meet coach Rahul Dravid, NCA chief VVS Laxman, Indian captain Rohit Sharma, and former skipper Virat Kohli once the team is back from the ongoing tour of Bangladesh. In the ongoing tour against Bangladesh, most of the top stars have fared way below expectations. What makes the defeat even more unacceptable is the fact that India lost both games from a strong position in the game.

This review meeting was long pending. According to the report, the BCCI was supposed to conduct a review meeting following India’s semi-final loss against England at the T20 World Cup 2022 however some of the BCCI officials were busy. But now after two back-to-back defeats in Mirpur, the BCCI officials have become anxious with the 50-over World Cup being just around the corner.

The BCCI has had enough and has thus called for a performance review meeting.

“We weren’t able to meet the Indian team before going to Bangladesh as some of the office bearers were busy but we will schedule it as soon as the team is back from Bangladesh. It has been an embarrassing performance and we didn’t expect this team to lose to Bangladesh,” a top BCCI official said as quoted by The Indian Express.

With Hardik Pandya likely to take over as T20 captain, the BCCI intends to take strict action after the review meeting. With the review meeting, a future roadmap on Indian captaincy will be clearer, the BCCI official said.
