IPL 2024 Auction: List Of Players Traded And Released By Franchises So Far

The IPL 2024 auction is slated for December 19 in Dubai. This will be the first time that an IPL auction will be held outside India. The IPL 2024 auction is a mini-auction for the IPL 2024 season, which is expected to kick-start in the last week of March or the first week of April next year.

The IPL 2024 season will be a crucial one for all players as the T20 World Cup 2024, in the West Indies, will begin just a week after the conclusion of the IPL.

Ahead of the IPL 2024 auction, the IPL franchises have shown interest in the trading window. A few trades – either swapping of players or trading away for cash – have already been made, and a few more are expected in the coming days.

When is the deadline date for IPL 2024 auction retention list to be announced?

Romario Shepherd traded from LSG to MI

As expected, the Mumbai Indians got involved in the trade early on. They have roped in West Indies all-rounder Romario Shepherd from Lucknow Super Giants in a player-for-cash trade. Romario Shepherd featured in just one match for LSG in the IPL 2023 season. With already a number of superstar overseas players in their squad, LSG found Romario Shepherd as a surplus. This inclusion of Shepherd by Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, might indicate that they will release Jofra Archer, who has struggled with elbow injury for two years.

A couple of months ago, Romario Shepherd won the CPL title with Guyana Warriors and performed impressively in the SA20 for JSK.

Devdutt Padikkal and Avesh Khan swap franchises

Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants have made a trade between Devdutt Padikkal and Avesh Khan. Avesh was bought by LSG for INR 10 crore and Padikkal by RR for INR 7.75 crore.

Both had ordinary IPL 2023 seasons. Padikkal averaged 26 with a strike rate of 130 in IPL 2023 and couldn’t really do well in the middle-order role for RR. Avesh picked only 8 wickets in IPL 2023 and leaked at over 9 runs per over.

Meanwhile, some more strong reports have emerged of the Delhi Capitals set to release Manish Pandey and Sarfaraz Khan after poor seasons for both of them. The big news is that CSK are also pondering over releasing Ben Stokes, who they bought for INR 16 crore. Stokes is expected to undergo a knee surgery soon and it’s uncertain whether he will play the IPL
