Team India’s tour of Bangladesh got off to a disappointing start as they were defeated by the hosts by 1-wicket in the 1st ODI match of the ongoing 3-match series in Dhaka. The Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team will be looking to bounce back and keep themselves in the contest to win the series when the two teams line-up for the 2nd game on Wednesday at the same venue in Dhaka.
Ahead of the 2nd ODI match, Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan, on Tuesday, addressed the pre-match conference and answered several questions. During his interaction, he stole the limelight with his savage response to a query on the Indian side making a ‘new start’.
The journalist asked Dhawan: “Of course you’d be looking to make a fresh start. You will be looking for a new start tomorrow,”
Shikhar Dhawan, who was surprised with the question, came up with a savage reply. He said: “Yeah, of course I can’t do an old start. “Yes, it’s going to be a new start. We are looking forward to it. We are in a positive and good space,”
The veteran batter also expressed confidence that Team India will make a comeback and also claimed what happened in the 1st ODI isn’t something that hasn’t happened before. He said:
“We are very very confident. This is not the first time we have lost the first game in the series. It’s quite normal. We know how to bounce back from these situations. Bangladesh is playing good cricket. The last match was an interesting game, a low-scoring one. In the end, they dragged the game away from us, this doesn’t happen that often. We analysed where we need to improve. We will try to create more impact in the coming games,”
Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan celebrated his 37th birthday with the Indian cricket team on Monday. He also shared a video via his official Instagram account, where he could be seen cutting a cake with the Indian side.
