The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) holds a massive fanbase. Despite the lack of a single IPL trophy, RCB fans throng in huge numbers and pack the M. Chinnaswamy stadium game after game and their legions of fans on social media support them even after heartbreaks every year.
RCB has lost 3 IPL finals and even though they boast of the leading IPL run-scorer, Virat Kohli, and have had legends like AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle in the past, Bangalore have failed to win a single title. Yet the motto of Ee Sala Cup Namde keep the fans and players motivated as they go after the elusive IPL trophy.
Here are the 5 most expensive players in the history of RCB:

Cameron Green – INR 17.5 crore
Australia all-rounder Cameron Green recently became the most expensive player RCB has ever owned at INR 17.5 crore. Bangalore didn’t buy Green in an IPL auction, but traded him in from Mumbai Indians ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. Green made his IPL debut last season for MI, but was traded to RCB as MI had to make purse for the return of Hardik Pandya.
Virat Kohli – INR 17 crore
Former RCB skipper Virat Kohli is the only player in IPL history to have played all 16 seasons for a single team. He is the leading IPL run-scorer. From IPL 2018 to 2021, Kohli’s salary at RCB was INR 17 crore per season. He was the most expensive player in IPL ever when his salary was bumped to 17 crore in 2018.
Kyle Jamieson – INR 15 crore
New Zealand pacer Kyle Jamieson was bought for INR 15 crore by Bangalore in the 2021 IPL auction. He couldn’t live up to the price tag, picking only 9 wickets and was later released.
Glenn Maxwell – INR 14.25 crore
Australian star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell was bought for INR 14.25 crore by RCB in the IPL 2021 auction. Maxwell had a bumper season, scoring over 500 runs at a strike rate of 144 with 6 fifties as RCB reached the playoffs. He was then retained ahead of IPL 2022 for INR 11 crore.
Yuvraj Singh – INR 14 crore
RCB spent INR 14 crore for India star Yuvraj Singh in the IPL 2014 auction. Yuvraj had an ordinary season with the bat, scoring 376 runs at a strike rate of 135. But he was released.
