Here’s Why SRH Should All In To Buy Rachin Ravindra In IPL 2024 Auction

Rachin Ravindra has been making regular headlines since the first match of the World Cup 2023, in which he slammed a sensational century against England on his World Cup debut.

The young New Zealander carried that form throughout the tournament. With his performances with the bat in the World Cup 2023, and given he can also bowl regularly and is a young player, Rachin Ravindra has certainly sealed himself a hefty contract at the upcoming IPL 2024 auction.

Rachin scored 578 runs in the World Cup at an average of 64 and a strike rate of 106. The left-hander cracked 3 centuries and 2 fifties. Rachin also bowls left-arm finger spin regularly and can be used as a good match-up spinner for right-handed batters

Multiple teams will be vying to go after Rachin Ravindra in the IPL 2024 auction. But one team, according to former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan, that should go really hard to secure the services of Rachin would be Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Irfan Pathan explains why SRH should buy Rachin Ravindra in the IPL 2024 Auction

Here's Why SRH Should All In To Buy Rachin Ravindra In IPL 2024 Auction

Although SRH have released only 6 players ahead of the IPL 2024 auction, they have a big purse of INR 34 crore, which is a result of releasing the expensive Harry Brook (INR 13.25 crore) , the cash left with them in their purse at the end of the last auction, and the top up of INR 5 crore to each franchise’s purse.

With a significant purse, Irfan Pathan reckons SRH should be able to get Rachin Ravindra as they need a spinner to bowl a few overs in the middle-overs – SRH have also released Adil Rashid – and a back-up opening batsman. Rachin excelled in the World Cup while batting in the top 4.

Speaking on Star Sports, Irfan Pathan said: “Ideally, they would like to have a proper spinner who is a wicket-taker. They had Adil Rashid; they don’t have his services now. Obviously, they have Mayank Markande but they need a bit more than that. If they have two all-rounders going really well as far as batting is concerned, Washington Sundar and Marco Jansen, they can actually play with the playing XI. A backup opener is very, very crucial for them, and that is why they need to go after Rachin Ravindra big time.”
