India’s sensational middle-order batter continued his red-hot form in ongoing India’s white-ball tour to New Zealand by smashing his second T20I hundred in the second T20I.  Though, SKY is yet to complete two years in international cricket however he looks all set to dominate Indian cricket for the next few years. He made his debut for the Indian cricket team in March of 2021 and ever since then he has featured in 57 matches, scoring almost 1800 runs with two centuries and 14 fifties.

After giving back-to-back amazing performances, including his batting heroics in the T20 World Cup 2022, he has not just cemented his place in the Indian squad in the T20I format but is also sitting atop the ICC’s T20I rankings, surpassing Mohammad Rizwan of Pakistan. He also holds the distinction of scoring the most runs in the format this year and has already shattered a lot of records in the shortest format of the game.

Suryakumar Yadav: 'I wanted to do things my way, and it really worked for me'

Recently, Suryakumar Yadav was asked to name his favorite T20 innings, his fans would assume the stunning centuries that he smashed this year — 117 against England and 111 not out against New Zealand last week. However, to everyone’s surprise, the innings Surya played against England on March 14 last year, where SKY registered a blistering half-century to guide his team home takes the cake for him. SKY said:

“I think the one which I got on debut… debut fifty. We won that game so that is very special to me,”

For the unversed, the aforementioned innings that SKY is talking about were the fourth T20I match of a 5-match series. It was his maiden innings for India, where he introduced himself to the world by playing a stunning shot off Jofra Archer for six. He scored 57 off 31 balls. His knock was laced with six boundaries and three sixes as he helped India defeat England by eight runs.

Besides this, another T20I inning that SKY mentioned is a game from the IPL 2022. SKY’s breakout year in his career was IPL 2022, where he amassed 480 runs as Mumbai Indians lifted the trophy for a record 5th time. In the next season, SKY scored 424 runs in yet another title-winning campaign for Mumbai Indians.

Speaking about his second favorite knock, SKY recalled his innings from Qualifier 1 in 2019 between MI and CSK that took place in Chennai. SKY played a special knock of 70 not out to help his side win the game. He said:

“There was a knock which I played in Qualifier 1 in 2019 between MI and CSK in Chennai. It was a tricky chase of 130-135 runs. There I got 70 not out and we won that game. So that is also very special. I can watch that innings again and again,”
