The 2nd ODI match of the ongoing series between India and New Zealand was halted after 12.5 overs. It was a do-or-die situation for the Indian cricket team as they were trailing 0-1 in the ongoing series. While the Indian cricket team would be hoping to win the 3rd and final match in order to draw the series, however, if they failed the Kiwis will end up winning the series by 2-0.

Meanwhile, the Indian team management has found themselves under the scanner of criticism as several experts and critics have come forward to slam the Indian board for the mismanagement of the players after Sanju Samson was dropped yet again from the Indian squad.

Rishabh Pant is becoming a liability for Team India, bring in Sanju Samson: Reetinder Sodhi

Sanju Samson is struggling to get a consistent run in the team. He was once again dropped from  India’s playing XI for the ongoing ODI fixture. After warming the bench for the entire T20I series against New Zealand, he got an opportunity in the 1st ODI match and he did pretty well.

Samson had scored a 38-ball 36 n the series opener while also stitching a crucial 96-run stand alongside Shreyas Iyer that helped India revive after a quick fall of wickets. But despite a decent performance in the series opener, Samson was again benched in the second ODI to accommodate Deepak Hooda as the sixth bowling option.

At the end of the second game, which was abandoned due to rain, stand-in skipper Shikhar Dhawan revealed the reason behind dropping Samson. While Shikhar did not reveal the reason after losing the toss, he explained why Samson had to be dropped. He explained:

“We wanted the sixth bowler to come in, so Sanju Samson missed out and Hooda came in. And Chahar was picked because he can swing the ball really well. A few of our guys are resting but this side is still strong, shows the depth of our squad,”
