“What Is Going On With Suryakumar?’: Glenn Maxwell Hailed SKY For His Batting Heroics In T20I

India’s star batter Suryakumar Yadav has been enjoying his dream run in international cricket. He stole the show with his batting performances in the recently-concluded T20 World Cup 2022, where he finished as the 3rd-highest run-getter in the tournament. He carried his form in the just-concluded 3-match T20I series against New Zealand as well, where the fans witnessed another spectacle by the current number-one ranked T20I batter.

During the 2nd T20I match against New Zealand, SKY once again came to India’s rescue as he registered his second century in the shortest format of the game. He played an unbeaten knock of 111 runs off just 51 balls in Mount Maunganui, helping the Indian side beat New Zealand by a huge margin of 65 runs.

SKY smashed the Kiwis to 11 fours and 7 sixes during his knock at a stunning strike rate of 217.65, which saw him draw praises from all across the globe. He has been receiving praise from all corners for his sensational knock. Several cricketers and experts from around the world have hailed him for his performance. The latest one to join the bandwagon is the Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, who has revealed his reaction to the ton of SKY.

Suryakumar Yadav

While speaking to The Grade Cricketer, Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell showered praises on Suryakumar. Maxwell shared his thoughts on the stunning knock SKY played in the 2nd T20I and revealed how he took a screenshot of the scorecard and sent it to Aaron Flinch. He said:

I didn’t know the game was on. But I later checked the scorecard, took a screenshot and sent it straight to Finchy (Aaron Finch) and said, ‘What is going on here? He is batting on a completely different planet! Look at everyone else’s scores and look at this bloke scoring 111 off 50.’,”

He added: “The next I watched the full replay of the innings and the embarrassing thing is that he is so much better than everyone else. It’s almost hard to watch. No one we have got is close to that. Suryakumar Yadav is doing it in such a bizarre, ungainly way. He’s just hitting the middle of the bat by stepping aside aside, deciding to sweep someone who bowls at 145. The from off the wicket on the other side. He then just puts his head down, chews some gum, glove tap, bat tap and then off he goes and does it again. He’s playing some of the some of the ridiculous shots I’ve ever seen and he’s doing it stupidly consistently. It’s hard to watch cause it makes everyone else so much worse for not being able to do that,”

Maxwell also spoke about Suryakumar’s knock against South Africa in Perth, which India lost by five wickets. For the unversed, SKY played a stunning  40-ball 68 after India’s batting order collapsed. His knock helped India post a respectable 133/9 on the board. Talking about that knock, he said:

“The innings that he played at Perth was one of the most ridiculous innings I have ever seen, having batted there a couple of days before that. Especially for an Indian to bat like that in those conditions and be so successful is just incredible,”
