ICC T20I Ranking: Arshdeep Singh Achieves A New Milestone

23-year-old young left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh’s rise this year has been phenomenal. From being nowhere near the fringes of the Indian team setup at the start of the year, Arshdeep was India’s big hope at the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.

After a terrific IPL 2022 season with Punjab Kings – where he was perhaps the second-best death bowler in the tournament after Jasprit Bumrah – Arshdeep was added into the Indian team’s T20I squad and hit the ground running, becoming one of the first names on the team sheet by the time the Asia Cup arrived.

In his 21-T20I career so far, Arshdeep Singh has taken 33 wickets at a good economy of 8.17, which is, in fact, terrific given that he regularly bowled about half of his overs in the death.

Another vindication of Arshdeep Singh’s rise in T20Is is that he is now the second-highest-ranked Indian bowler in the men’s T20I bowlers ranking.

With 616 rating points, Arshdeep Singh is slotted at the 21st position among bowlers in the shortest format by the ICC. No Indian is in the top 10 list that is headed by Hasaranga and seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar is just outside the top 10, at number 11.

In the batters, though, it is an Indian – Suryakumar Yadav – whose form has gone through the roofs this year, and he concluded his 2022 in T20Is with a bumper century in New Zealand. Suryakumar, already the number 1 ranked T20I batter, rose his rating points to 890, much ahead of the second-placed Pakistani, Mohammad Rizwan, who has 836 rating points. Suryakumar Yadav was named the Man of the Series for the series which India won 1-0 with the first game washed out and the third match ending in a tie.

Hardik Pandya, who recently captain India in New Zealand, is the only Indian in the top 10 all-rounders rankings in T20I.
