Watch: Virat Kohli Bows Down And Hugs Dean Elgar

In a gripping encounter at Cape Town, India faces off against South Africa in the second test, aiming to level the series after a disheartening defeat in Centurion. The first test witnessed Indian batters struggling on a challenging wicket, with only KL Rahul and Virat Kohli showing resilience. However, the second test presents a renewed opportunity for India to bounce back.

To strengthen their lineup, India has made two crucial changes. Mukesh Kumar replaces Shardul Thakur, bringing in fresh pace, while Ravindra Jadeja replaces Ravichandran Ashwin, adding depth to the spin department. These strategic changes reflect India’s determination to turn the tide in Cape Town.

South Africa’s captain, Dean Elgar, in his final test, won the toss and opted to bat first. However, India’s pace battery, led by Jasprit Bumrah, wreaked havoc, dismissing South Africa for a mere 55 runs within the first session. Mohammed Siraj’s exceptional performance, clinching six wickets, showcased India’s dominance.

In response, India posted a total of 153, securing a lead of 98 runs. The last 11 balls witnessed a dramatic collapse, emphasizing the unpredictable nature of test cricket. The match took an unexpected turn, with Kohli and Rahul’s comfortable partnership disrupted by Ngidi’s extra bounce, resulting in a flurry of wickets.

Post-tea, Rabada, who bowled superbly in the middle session, conceded 28 runs in 5 overs. However, a loose shot from Rahul triggered a remarkable collapse. Extra bounce from Ngidi claimed three Indian wickets in an over, followed by three more wickets within the next five deliveries.

At the end of the day, South Africa stands at 62/3 in the second inning, trailing by 36 runs. Dean Elgar, departing for the last time in cricket, received a fitting farewell. The moment when he got out. Kohli embraced Elgar and also bowed down.

Mukesh Kumar brought into the team for Shardul Thakur, proved instrumental in India’s performance. His well-executed deliveries and threat on the field earned him accolades.
