24-years ago, former Indian all-rounder and world-cup hero Yuvraj Singh set the record for the highest individual score in the Cooch Behar Trophy final, scoring 358 runs for Punjab against Bihar. However, the record has now been surpassed in the recently-concluded Cooch Behar Trophy final clash between Karnataka and Mumbai by young talent Prakhar Chaturvedi.

Prakhar Chaturvedi, in an outstanding performance, scored an unbeaten 404 runs, leading Karnataka to victory over Mumbai based on the first-innings lead.

Yuvraj Singh took to his social media and quoted an article about Prakhar Chaturvedi’s record. In his Tweet, Yuvraj Singh hailed Prakhar as the future of Indian cricket. He wrote:

“Very happy to see this! Records are meant to be broken and I’m glad to see the future of Indian cricket in safe hands๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ”

After dismissing Mumbai for 380, Prakhar’s remarkable innings ensured Karnataka dominated the game with an incredible score of 890/8.

Notably, the all-time highest individual score in the history of the Cooch Behar Trophy tournament is held by Vijay Zol. He achieved this feat by scoring 451 runs for Maharashtra against Assam during the 2011/12 season.

Talking about Yuvraj Singh, the former Indian cricketer recently hinted at mentoring young talents in the future. Yuvi is confident that he possesses the ability to mentor more young talents in the future, contributing to the continuous growth and strength of Indian cricket. He was quoted by PTI saying:

Mentoring is something I love to do. In the coming years, when my kids are settled, I want to give back to cricket and help the young guys get better. I think we face a lot of mental challenges in big tournaments. I believe in the mental aspect, I can really come in and work with these guys in the future.”

He added:

“I feel that I can contribute a lot, especially in the middle order. I have the confidence to work with the young guys, addressing not only their technique but also the mental challenges that come with cricket.”
