Setting off speculations ahead of the upcoming Punjab assembly election 2022, Punjab Congress chief and former Indian cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu shared a picture of himself with veteran Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh.

Sharing the picture, Sidhu wrote: “Picture loaded with possibilities… with bhajji, the shining star”. The former Indian spinner who was part of the World Cup team in 2011 also retweeted the post by Navjot Singh Sidhu.

The Tweet went viral in no time and was flooded with reactions from the fans to it, starting speculations that Bhajji might join the Congress party in the 2022 Assembly elections. However, the speculations over Harbhajan Singh’s political debut aren’t new as time and again there have been rumors of him joining the BJP. In fact, it was just a few days ago when it was rumored that the BJP was eyeing to rope Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh into the party.

But Harbhajan Singh took to Twitter and brushed off the speculations as ‘fake news’. Here, check out the Tweet:

Earlier, during the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, there were similar speculations regarding Harbhajan joining the BJP which was planning to field him from the Amritsar constituency. But at that time, Harbhajan Singh had ruled out the rumors stating that he has no plans of joining politics. He had said: “There are too many seasoned people in the politics. So, I have no plan.”

Meanwhile, Navjot Singh Sidhu was made the Chairman of the Congress` election panel for Punjab this week and if Sidhu manages to rope in Harbhajan Singh, it is expected to provide a major boost to the ruling party in the state. The all-important committee also includes Chief Minister Charanjit Channi and former Punjab Congress chief Sunil Jakhar.
