Only An Indian Batsman Has A Strike Rate Of Over 300 In A Test Innings – The revolution in white-ball cricket has also had effects on red-ball cricket. Batters are taking the aggressive route now more often than ever before.

While there had been one or two attacking batters in Test teams earlier, England’s Bazball revolution has set a new precedent in which all the batters, and even the bowlers, are willing to go after the bowlers, no matter the situation. One of the beliefs of taking this aggressive, risky ploy is that one ball would come with your name on it, so you might as well look to score as much as you can while in the middle.

One very interesting stat that you will learn today is that in the history of Test cricket, there has been only one innings of a minimum of 10 balls that has had a strike rate of more than 300!!!

No, it’s not Viv Richards, Sanath Jayasuriya, Virender Sehwag, Brendon McCullum, or David Warner. In fact, the player who holds this record is not even a proper batsman or an all-rounder; he is a pacer from India.

Indian pacer Umesh Yadav holds the record for the highest strike rate in a Test innings (minimum 10 balls)

Indian fast bowler Umesh Yadav holds the record for the highest strike rate in a Test innings (minimum 10 alls in the innings). In the 2019 Test match in Ranchi against South Africa, Umesh Yadav smashed 31 runs in only 10 balls, with the help of five sixes, and finished with a strike rate of 310. This is the only innings in Test cricket in which the batter played at least 10 balls and scored at a strike rate of more than 300.

It was in India’s first innings. Umesh Yadav came in at number 9, with India already in a strong position at 450/7. Yadav clobbered two sixes in his first two balls to spinner George Linde. In Linde’s next over, Umesh walloped three more sixes before getting out on the last ball, propelling India’s score to 497.

Umesh Yadav

Behind Umesh Yadav on this list is former New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming, who cracked 31* runs in 14 balls (strike rate of 281) in the 2004 Auckland Test match against South Africa. Fleming creamed 6 fours and 1 six as the Kiwis chased down a small target of 51 runs.
