T20 World Cup 2022: Virat Kohli Gets Emotional After India’s World Cup Exit

Indian batting superstar Virat Kohli, who put his soul and heart into the T20 World Cup 2022, was left heartbroken after India was knocked out of the marquee tournament after a semi-final defeat against England. He was a mere bystander at the Adelaide Oval when India took the field against England. He slammed his fourth half-century of the T20 World Cup 2022 against England as the former captain once again came to India’s rescue while other batters failed.

With 296 runs to his name in just 6 matches, Virat Kohli is also the leading run-scorer in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022. Kohli’s 50 and Hardik Pandya’s blistering knock of 63 took India to a respectable total of 168/6 in 20 overs.

However, England’s Jos Buttler and Alex Hales happened as they came out all guns blazing and smashed every Indian bowler to all the corners of the ground, on every ball they faced on the night. Absolute disrespect exhibited by both Buttler (80*) and Hales (86*) meant England reached the target with all their 10 wickets intact. All thanks to the blockbuster innings by the openers, England stormed into the finals of the T20 World Cup 2022.

Meanwhile, after the game, a heartbroken Virat Kohli took to his social media and posted an emotional note. He shared that the outcome hurts and that although the team fell short of winning the World Cup, they take back plenty from an otherwise positive tournament. He wrote:

“We leave Australian shores short of achieving our dream and with disappointment in our hearts but we can take back a lot of memorable moments as a group and aim to get better from here on. Thank you to all our fans who turned up in huge numbers throughout to support us in the stadiums. Always feel proud to wear this jersey and represent our country 🇮🇳💙”
