While hailing Rohit Sharma for his sizzling century in the third T20I against Afghanistan, senior India leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal wrote a caption that has attracted a lot of trolling and criticism from the fans of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), his previous IPL franchise.

India captain Rohit Sharma slammed a superb 5th T20I century against Afghanistan at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru. India went on to win the game, but it needed two Super Overs to get a result because the match was tied in regulation time and also in the first Super Over.

Rohit became the first batsman to record 5 T20I hundreds. With this ton, he shut down all his critics and doubters and sealed his place in India’s T20 World Cup squad, regardless of how his IPL 2024 goes.

Yuzvendra Chahal, who is also a good friend of Rohit Sharma’s, posted a tweet to applaud the majestic century from the India skipper. But his caption really made more noise.

Chahal captioned his post: “Rohitaaa sharammaaa owning Bengaluru What a knock”

RCB fans felt the leg-spinner was taking a dig at his previous franchise with the “owning Bengaluru” remark.

He got plenty of bashing from RCB fans:

Despite being the franchise’s all-time leading wicket-taker, Yuzvendra Chahal was released by RCB ahead of the IPL 2022 mega-auction. RCB didn’t even bid for Chahal in the mega-auction, where he was bought by the Rajasthan Royals for INR 6.5 crore.

Last year, he revealed that nobody even contacted him to tell him he was being released.

Chahal said on Ranveer Allahbadia’s YouTube channel, “Definitely, I felt very bad. My main journey started in 2014. I also felt very weird because I played for the franchise for eight years. I would also say that I got the India cap because of my performances for RCB because they gave me a chance to perform. From the very first match, Virat bhai showed trust in me.”

He added, “The worst thing, which I felt very bad about, was that I did not receive any phone call. No one even spoke to me.”

Chahal is currently dropped from the Indian team. He has not played an international game since August last year, even when second-string sides played against Australia and South Africa. Ravi Bishnoi has made an impressive impact over the past few series and is likely to be on the plane to the Caribbean.
