Ahead of the upcoming 5-Test series at home against England, KS Bharat has made a strong claim to be picked in India’s playing XI with an outstanding fourth innings century against England Lions. He dedicated his hundred to Lord Ram by doing the bow and arrow gesture.

The first of the three four-day games between India A and England Lions ended in a draw at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The England Lions had put themselves in a strong position to win the game by setting India A the target of 490 runs with a day and a session to go. India A were 219/5 in 75 overs before KS Bharat and Rajasthan’s Manav Suthar put on a terrific, gritty partnership of 207 runs in 329 balls.

Bharat scored 116* and Suthar scored 89*. The match ended in a draw, with India A on 426/5, only 64 runs away from the target. This was the 10th century of KS Bharat’s first-class career, and perhaps his best one.

Upon completing his century with a boundary, KS Bharat celebrated it with the bow and arrow gesture, dedicating his knock to Lord Ram ahead of the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ event in Ayodhya.

KS Bharat is likely to come back to India’s playing XI in the upcoming first Test match against England in Hyderabad. It has been learned that the management wants to play KL Rahul, who kept wicket in South Africa, as a pure batsman on the turning pitches in India. With Ishan Kishan not included in the squad, this makes way for Bharat to add to his 5 Test caps.

However, that would likely mean that one of Shubman Gill or Shreyas Iyer would be benched.
