Jasprit Bumrah And R Ashwin's Instagram Stories For Each Other After BCCI Awards Will Melt Your Heart

India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was named the best Indian men’s cricketer of the year for 2021-22, R Ashwin for 2020-21, Mohammed Shami for 2019-20, and Shubman Gill for 2022-23.

On Tuesday, the BCCI hosted the award ceremony. Since the board couldn’t host the award function in the last three years, it was decided to announce the winners of the past four seasons together, for both men’s and women’s players.

Young India batsman Shubman Gill, who was the leading international run-scorer in 2023, bagged the Polly Umrigar Men’s Cricketer Of The Year award for the first time in his career.

The women’s cricketer of the year awards went to Deepti Sharma for 2022-23 and 2019-20, and Smriti Mandhana for 2020-21 and 2021-22.

Former India allrounder and head coach Ravi Shastri was bestowed the BCCI’s lifetime achievement award.

After the function, Jasprit Bumrah and R Ashwin posted heartwarming Instagram stories, hailing each other.

Ashwin captioned his picture with Bumrah, “With the BCCI cricketer of the year 2021/22, such a privilege @jaspritb1”

Reacting to Ashwin’s story, Jasprit Bumrah wrote, “It was my honour to be seated next to greatness @rashwin99”

Bazball could get me heaps of wickets: Jasprit Bumrah

After a Player of the Series performance in South Africa, Bumrah is ready for the Bazball test in the upcoming 5-Test series against England at home.

Bumrah reckons with the aggressive approach that the England batters play with, it could help him scalp plenty of wickets.

“I don’t really relate to the term Bazball. But they are playing successful cricket and the aggressive route of taking the opposition on, showing the world there’s another way to play Test cricket,” Bumrah told The Guardian.

“As a bowler, what I think is that it keeps me in play. And if they’re going for it, playing so fast, they won’t tire me out, I could get heaps [of wickets]. I always think about how I can use things to my advantage. Kudos to them but, as a bowler, you’re in the game.”
