Vaughan remarked on the Club Prairie Fire podcast, stating, “They missed Virat Kohli’s captaincy massively in Test cricket. Under Virat’s captaincy that week, India wouldn’t have lost the game.”
According to Vaughan, Kohli’s leadership skills were sorely missed, and he implied that under Kohli’s captaincy, the outcome might have been different. Vaughan further criticized Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, describing it as “very, very average.” He pointed out what he perceived as a lack of proactiveness in Sharma’s decision-making, particularly in field placements and bowling changes. Vaughan suggested that Sharma appeared reactive rather than taking a more strategic and proactive approach during the course of the Test match.
“Rohit is a legend and a great player. But I felt he just switched off completely,” Vaughan said.
