Ritika Sajdeh, the wife of Rohit Sharma, has made a scathing, unswerving revelation of her opinion about Mumbai Indians head coach Mark Boucher making explanation behind the reasons for switching the MI captaincy from Rohit to Hardik Pandya ahead of the IPL 2024 auction.

Leaving Gujarat Titans, Hardik Pandya returned to the Mumbai Indians through a trade, and days before the auction in December the franchise announced the Baroda all-rounder as their new skipper, unceremoniously taking the captaincy away from Rohit Sharma, who led them for a decade and brought 5 IPL trophies.

MI head coach Mark Boucher recently appeared on the Smash Sports podcast where he said that the switch in captaincy was purely a “cricketing decision”.

Under the video of Boucher explaining MI’s decision, Rohit Sharma’s wife, Ritika Sajdeh, lashed out with a comment: “So many things wrong with this.”

Replacing Rohit Sharma with Hardik Pandya “purely a cricketing decision”: Mark Boucher

Speaking on the show, Boucher explained his points, making it clear that the decision was in the best interest of the team.

With Rohit Sharma closing on the age of 37 this April, Boucher reckons it was time for MI to enter the “transition phase”. Boucher also hoped that with Rohit not being the captain anymore, that would help him perform better as a batsman after having a couple of disappointing seasons with the bat.

“I think it was purely a cricketing decision. We saw the window period to get Hardik back as a player. For me it’s a transition phase. A lot of people don’t understand in India, people get quite emotional, but you know you take the emotions away from it. I think it’s just more of a cricketing decision that was made and I do think it is going to bring the best out of Rohit as a person as a player. Just let him go out and enjoy and score some good runs,” Mark Boucher said.

In the last two seasons, Rohit has scored 600 runs combined at an average of 20 and strike rate of 126 with only two fifties. MI has also not reached a final in last three seasons.
