Interestingly, South Africa were awarded 5 extra runs in the form of a penalty to the Bangladesh team.
Why were Bangladesh handed a 5-run penalty vs South Africa?
These additional 5 runs were rewarded to South Africa because of a mistake by Bangladesh wicket-keeper Nurul Hasan.
Bangladesh captain and left-arm spinner Shakib Al Hasan bowled the 11th over of South Africa’s innings. During one of the deliveries of his over, after Shakib had started his run-up to bowl to the batsman, wicket-keeper Hasan made a movement and shifted to his left.
Now, this sort of movement by the wicketkeeper is not allowed after the bowler has started his run-up. Once Shakib’s over concluded, the two umpires, Langton Rusere and Rod Tucker, converged giving vibes of some confusion.
Then, Rod Tucker signaled 5 penalty runs, and then the commentators, with the help of the video shown by the broadcasters, explained that since the wicket-keeper made movements after Shakib had started his run-up, Bangladesh were fined with 5 penalty runs, awarded to South Africa.

Meanwhile, chasing a big target of 206, Bangladeshi batters have been blown away by the South African bowlers. Anrich Nortje has taken 3 wickets, Shamsi bagged a brace and Rabada took one, leaving the Asian team reeling at 82/7 at 13 overs, at the time of writing.
Bangladesh won their first Super 12 match, against the Netherlands, while South Africa first match was washed out against Zimbabwe.
